Today is Ash Wednesday. you know what that means to us Catholics. It's the start of lent. 40 days we wait until holy week, when we celebrate the passion and death of our lord Jesus Christ. If you've seen the Passion of the Christ, or have read the bible often, you might be able to somewhat feel the pain that Jesus did.
Speaking of death, Ash Wednesday reminds us that we are mortals and thus this statement: We were made from ashes, so we die and turn back into ashes. it's the reality of death, and that death is unavoidable. If we die as sinners, we might be condemned to hell for all eternity, however, if during our lifetimes, we are able to do something good not only for yourself, but for others as well, we might have a chance of joining the angels and saints into heaven.
The problem here is that, our choice of what's right and wrong is dependent on our views. A good deed done by one person might be viewed as a sin by another. In the end, there might be conflict regarding who is really right or not. However, need I remind you this, God will ultimately tell you what is right and what is wrong once you meet with him face to face. also, what is right and what is wrong is clearly defined in the bible, although it only serves as a guide for us to live a happier persons.
the point here is that, despite what we think, in the end, it's all up to God to decide. We all die, and then get judged by him and be sent to either heaven or hell. however, god doesn't want us to go to hell. That's why, especially during this lenten season, he is inviting us to repent and believe in the Gospel. He wants us to reconcile and go to him to be forgiven.
My friends, the season of lent has started. Let us be reminded that while we are still alive, we should do what is good and what is right, as well as be mindful of others. We should always pray and ask for forgiveness to God whenever we do something bad. In short, we are invited in this season to reflect and try to change. Until we turn into dust, it's never too late to change.
Have a blessed Lenten Season.
